Downtown Fort Myers, Lady In Pink Photography: Night Photography Class

July 1st 2011, Lady In Pink Photography and one student charged our camera batteries, formated our Compact Flash Cards and took a night out on the town.

Last image I took that night.  All of the lines inspired me!

The first photography class in Lady In Pink Photography's Night Photography Class series was dedicated to hand held Night Photography.  All four images above were taken with the natural light available to me.  In order to capture the available light, my camera (Aka Shamus) was set to ISO 1600.  This allows my shutter speed to speed up and for me to create images with no-to-limited motion blur.

Tonight's Night Photography Class is dedicated to photographing with nothing but the moonlight, and maybe a little bit of creative lighting.  In order to create clear crisp images I will need one very important thing tonight, my tripod!  The tripod allows me to keep "Shamus" at a lower ISO, ie. 100.  I can then drag my shutter to allow as much light in.  To see two examples of this technique click HERE.  I absolutely love that this technique glazes the Gulf of Mexico over like a sheet of glass.

Lady In Pink Photography has three sessions set up for tonight's students to play with the new techniques.  I can't wait to see what they come up with tonight!
